Canadian Skills Competition
15th Canadian Skills Competition!
June 1-5, 2011
Quebec City, Quebec
Canadian Skills Competition remains the only event of its kind in Canada. It is
the only national, Olympic-style, multi-trade and technology competition for
young students and apprentices in the country.
The CSC is the main step in selecting the members of Team Canada for the WorldSkills Competition that is held every two years. The 2010 Canadian Skills Competition was qualifying year for WorldSkills London 2011.
Every year, the event brings together over 500 young people from all regions of Canada, along with their parents and advisors, to compete in over 40 trade and technology areas. The competition provides an opportunity for young Canadians studying a skilled trade or technology to be tested against exacting standards and against their peers from across the nation. Students vie to win the honour of being crowned the best in their chosen discipline.
The journey to the CSC is a long one for many students as they must compete at local, regional and provincial/territorial events to gain their place to represent their province/territory at the CSC.
Plan for a Spot on Team Alberta at the Canadian Skills Competition
Team Alberta will be selected at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition (PSCC)
on May 11-12, 2011. Then in June students, teachers and SCA staff will travel
via Westjet to Quebec City for the Canadian Skills Competition (CSC).
During the PSCC Awards Ceremony on May 12 all students who earn a medal will be
escorted backstage after we photograph their onstage moments of success. Gold
medalists will be given their Team Alberta information package and will confirm
their participation in the CSC.
Students must be present at the Awards Ceremony to claim their position on Team
Alberta. If the Gold medalist is not able to attend CSC, the next top ranking
individuals will be asked to participate.
