In 2008, eight Regional Skills Canada Competitions took place in Alberta for high school students. Skills Canada Alberta is proud to partner with local organizations and technical institutes across Alberta to host the regional competitions.

The result is increased recognition, at a local level, for the tremendous skills being developed in Alberta’s high schools and in partnership with local employers.

In 2008, to compete at the Provincial Skills Competition in Welding students had to qualify at a Regional Skills Canada Competition. In all other events the top performers at Regional Skills Canada Competitions will automatically earn a spot to compete at the Provincial Skills Competition.

To foster the growth of the Regional Skills Canada Competitions, and to ensure students are prepared to compete at a provincial level we encourage participation in regional competitions. Dates and locations for 2009 Regional Skills Canada Competitions will be announced in November.
