Skills Canada Alberta is proud to host Alberta's premier showcase of trade and technology talent at the 18th Annual Provincial Skills Competition, May 12-13, 2010 at Northlands
AgriCom in Edmonton. With the support of hundreds of teachers, industry contacts and government partners 600 Alberta students will showcase their skills in an experience of a lifetime. Thousands more will attend the event to gain inspiration and information.
*Important change in Regional Skills Canada Competitions:
In 2010, to compete at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition
in Auto Service, Carpentry, Culinary Arts and Welding students
must qualify at a Regional Skills Canada Competition. Additional events requiring regional qualification may be announced in the fall of 2010.

Gold medalists at the Provincial Skills Competition earn a spot on Team Alberta
and will compete at the
Canadian Skills Competition happening May 20-23, 2010 in Waterloo, Ontario.
Regional Skills Canada Competitions
Qualifying for the Provincial Skills Competitions
This year eight Regional Skills Canada Competitions will take place in Alberta. In 2010, to compete at the Provincial Skills Competition
in Auto Service, Carpentry, Culinary Arts and Welding students must qualify at a Regional Skills Canada Competition.
Top performers in all other events at the Regional Skills Canada Competitions will automatically be entered into the Provincial Skills Competitions.
Competitor Eligibility
Secondary Level Competition
It is the school’s responsibility to ensure that their students participating in the 2010 Provincial Skills Competition meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Be enrolled in a public, separate or private secondary school in the same school year in which the Provincial Skills Competition is held.
- Must be born on or after January 1, 1989.
- Be an Alberta Resident
- Canadian Citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident
Students currently enrolled in the RAP program should be enrolled in the Secondary Level of competition. Application to participate in the Apprentice Level will be considered if space is unavailable in the Secondary Level.
Students that do not comply with the safety requirements outlined in the scope will not be eligible to compete. Please review the safety equipment required to be brought by the competitor to avoid disqualification.
